TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed five players on the all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference squad, including three first-team members in results released today by the league office.
Junior Paige Cook (Terre Haute/North), senior Melissa Montgomery (Alexandria/Monroe) and junior Marie Stettler (Edgerton, Wis.) captured first-team honors in the coaches voting procedure. The honors mark the third career first-team all-league honor for Stettler, the second for Montgomery and the first for Cook.
Montgomery was also named Rose-Hulman's recipient of the league all-Sportsmanship Team position.
Cook finished 11-3 in singles play and 11-2 in doubles play this fall for the Engineers. She compiled records of 6-1 at the No. 4 singles position and 5-2 at the No. 3 doubles spot. Cook's career singles record of 25-7 stands third all-time in terms of winning percentage, and her doubles mark of 31-11 ranks second.
Montgomery finished 6-7 in singles play to improve her career record to 34-31 overall. She also teamed with Stettler to compile a 6-8 record at the No. 1 doubles position. Montgomery's 34 career singles victories ranks fourth in Rose-Hulman history, and her 39 doubles wins stands third all-time.
Stettler finished 10-3 at the No. 1 singles position and improved her career record to 35-15 overall. Her 35 career singles wins stands third in school history. Her career doubles mark of 28 wins currently ranks sixth all-time.
Miller jumped into the lineup as a freshman to finish 8-6 in singles play. McCollum finished 11-2 in singles play and 6-3 in doubles matches this fall for the Engineers. McCollum's career singles record of 21-5 marks a school record winning percentage of .808.
Rose-Hulman finished 11-3 this season and 7-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Fightin' Engineers earned HCAC regular season and conference tournament runner-up honors this fall.
