Women's Tennis Shuts Out Earlham in HCAC Win


RICHMOND, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis play with a 9-0 victory at Earlham College on Saturday.

The two teams battled cold and blustery conditions, including a brief snow delay, prior to completing the match.

The Fightin' Engineers opened the day with a sweep of doubles action.  Seniors Suzana Mohd and Kylie McCollum won at the No. 1 position, with freshman Isabella Evans and sophomore Lauren Edwards winning at the No. 2 spot.  Junior Lauren Miller and sophomore Sydney Short completed the sweep with a victory at No. 3.

In singles action, Mohd, Evans and McCollum swept the top three spots.  Edwards, sophomore Becca Stanley and freshman Paige Bateman added wins at No. 5 and No. 6.

Rose-Hulman (5-1) returns to action at home against Franklin on Sunday at noon.  Earlham dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-5 in HCAC action.
