Women's Tennis Splits Two Matches in Opener

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology split two matches to open the 2015 women's tennis season on Saturday at Oakland City University.

Rose-Hulman swept Oakland City 9-0, before falling 9-0 to NAIA Indiana University-Southeast in the nightcap.

Against Oakland City, sophomore Bella Evans and freshman Linde Schaffer led the Rose-Hulman performance by winning at the top two singles flights and the No. 1 doubles position.

Senior Lauren Miller and junior Lauren Edwards won at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles position and also combined for a No. 2 doubles victory.

Sophomore Becca Stanley won at the No. 5 singles position, and junior Coco Liu earned a No. 6 singles victory.  Stanley teamed with junior Sydney Short for a No. 3 doubles victory.

After today's second match, Rose-Hulman returns to action on Sept. 12 at Hanover College in the first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season.
