INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season with a 5-1 loss to top-seeded Hanover College in the semifinals of the conference tournament at West Indy Racquet Club on Saturday.
The No. 1 doubles team of Bella Evans and Linde Schaffer earned Rose-Hulman's victory on the day by a 9-8 (7-5) margin in the opener. The top No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles flights, including Evans, Schaffer and Lauren Edwards, were unfinished after Hanover clinched the match win.
Rose-Hulman stands 7-5 at the end of its fall season and finished fourth in the HCAC regular season tournament standings. The Fightin' Engineers reached the HCAC Tournament semifinal round by virtue of a four-hour, 5-3 win over Transylvania in the opening round.
