Three Women's Tennis Players Named All-HCAC

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed three players on the all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis team, in results released by the conference office on Tuesday.

Freshman Anna Thompson was named HCAC Freshman of the Year to lead three all-conference honorees.  Junior Bella Evans and freshman Naomi Bhagat also captured all-conference honors.

Seniors Lauren Edwards and Sydney Short earned spots on the honorable mention all-league team, and Edwards received a spot on the conference's all-sportsmanship team.

Thompson finished 10-4 on the season as the team's primary No. 1 singles player, and teamed with Bhagat for an 8-3 doubles mark.  Bhagat recorded a 13-1 overall mark at the No. 3 singles position, while Evans finished a perfect 14-0 on the fall season.  The unbeaten regular season marks the second time in three years that Evans has recorded a perfect season during fall action.

Edwards compiled a 5-5 record in singles play and was 6-4 in doubles matches.  Short finished 8-1 in singles play and teamed up with freshman Kyla Jarvis for a key doubles victory in Rose-Hulman's 5-4 HCAC Tournament championship match win over Hanover.

Rose-Hulman finished 12-2 overall in the fall season and will compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament in May.
