TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opened its spring women's tennis season with a 5-4 win at Principia College on Saturday.
The Fightin' Engineers, who already qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament in May by winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament last fall, rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play with four wins in the six singles matches.
Senior Becca Stanley provided the match clinching point, winning a tight 7-5, 6-4 match at the No. 5 singles position with the match tied 4-4.
In doubles play, the tandem of Evans and Edwards earned a victory at the No. 2 position.
Rose-Hulman improved to 13-2 by kicking off the spring season with the victory.
