TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team recognition, in results released by the national organization.
The Fightin' Engineers were honored for compiling a team grade point average of 3.71 during the 2016-17 season. Rose-Hulman won the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship to qualify for its second NCAA Division III Tournament in program history.
The Fightin' Engineers were the regular season runner-up in the HCAC, then defeated Hanover 5-4 in the conference tournament final to advance to the NCAA Tournament. The team tied a women's tennis program school record with 14 victories against just four losses last season.
Ten individuals also received individual All-Academic recognition from the ITA. Beata Barati, Naomi Bhagat, Lauren Edwards, Bella Evans, Kyla Jarvis, Betsy Richardson, Linde Schaffer, Sydney Short, Becca Stanley and Anna Thompson were honored for achieving greater than a 3.50 grade point average and being members of the varsity team.
