Sarah Jensen Named Academic All-American

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology graduate student Sarah Jensen has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America NCAA Division III Volleyball Team, in results released by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Jensen earned third-team CoSIDA Academic All-American honors to become the second Rose-Hulman volleyball player to capture Academic All-American accolades.  Anna Lewer earned the first Fightin' Engineer Academic All-American award in volleyball, capturing third-team honors in 2012.

Rose-Hulman student-athletes have now combined for 117 Academic All-American awards, including 30 consecutive years with at least one Academic All-American.  The 30-year streak ranks sixth among all NCAA institutions and first in NCAA Division III.

Jensen led all current NCAA Division III volleyball players with 23 career triple-doubles, in terms of kills, assists and digs in a match.  She earned first-team all-conference recognition in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and was an honorable mention all-league selection in 2015.

Jensen and the Fightin' Engineers finished 15-16 overall this season and won their last four Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches of the year to place in a tie for sixth in the conference standings.  She led the team with 503 assists (5.08/set) and smashed 159 kills (1.61/set) to rank fourth on the squad.

In her career, Jensen ranked in Rose-Hulman all-time top 10 in assists (5th with 2,059) and kills (8th with 919), while crossing the 1,000-dig mark at 1,125.

In the classroom, the chemical engineering major earned an undergraduate degree last May with a 3.93 grade point average.  She has also been a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity and the Chi Omega sorority.
