TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology captured a volleyball crosstown victory for the second consecutive year, topping St. Mary-of-the-Woods 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.
Alison Rogozinski paced the Engineer assist totals with 23, and freshman Katie Orbeta contributed 17 assists. Junior Gabi Razma led the squad with 18 digs, and Oladipupo also reached double figures with 10 digs. Emily McLendon paced the blocking effort with three solo blocks.
For St. Mary-of-the-Woods, McKenzi Kumpf recorded a team-high eight kills and Gabriella Slagle had seven. Mary Alvanos recorded 21 assists, and Madeline Howes tallied 11 digs. Autum Loughead paced the blocking attack with two solos.
Rose-Hulman relied on fast starts, including the first eight points of the third set, to earn the victory. The Fightin' Engineers improved to 4-5 on the season, while St. Mary-of-the-Woods stands 1-8. Rose-Hulman travels to the DePauw Invitational this weekend.
