NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology captured a three-set road victory in its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener, topping Manchester University 25-19, 26-24, 25-21 on Wednesday night.
Rose-Hulman led for much of the first and third sets, and rallied from a second set deficit to improve to 7-7 overall and 1-0 in HCAC play.
Sophomore Bailey MacInnis led the Rose-Hulman offense with 14 kills and added five blocked assists. Senior Emily McLendon had an impressive effort in the front line with one solo block and eight block assists to bolster the front row.
Rose-Hulman stands 7-7 and 1-0 in league play with a pair of non-conference matches set for Saturday. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Millikin University for matches against Augustana (2 p.m. CT) and Millikin (4 p.m. CT) on Saturday.
