TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Heather (Schierer) Davis will serve as the interim head volleyball coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for the upcoming 2017 season.
Davis has spent two seasons as assistant coach at Rose-Hulman in 2014 and 2016. The Fightin' Engineers won 29 matches over those two seasons, including an 11-7 record in HCAC regular season competition. The team also advanced to the semifinal round of the 2016 HCAC Tournament.
Davis played three seasons at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Bluffton University (Ohio), where she served as a two-year team captain. She was named first-team all-league and team Most Valuable Player as a senior, after earning honorable mention all-league accolades twice. She also played with a nationally ranked NAIA team at the University of Mobile (Ala.) as a freshman in 2009.
Davis earned a bachelor's degree in food and nutrition with a concentration in dietetics at Bluffton in 2013. She earned a graduate certificate in dietetic practice from Western Kentucky in 2014 and is a registered dietitian. In 2015, Davis completed a master's degree in physical education-exercise science at Indiana State University.
Rose-Hulman will conduct a national search for a permanent head volleyball coach at the completion of the season. This year's coaching staff will also include assistant coach Karissa Smith, a 2017 graduate from Western Connecticut State University.
