TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season, in a preseason poll of league coaches released August 11.
Rose-Hulman finished third in the league and reached the semifinal round of the HCAC Tournament in 2016. The team is led by two players who earned all-conference and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors last season. Senior Gabi Razma is a three-time first-team all-league selection and ranks second in school history with 1,993 career digs. Junior Bailey MacInnis claimed first-team all-conference honors last season after leading the team with 289 kills.
Other returnees who played more than half the matches last season include setters Katie Orbeta (501 assists) and Alison Rogozinski (421 assists); and four letterwinners with between 100 and 200 kills in Mackenzie Gossard, Adekite Oladipupo, Mia Styczynski, Julia Hammond and Becca Poppel.
The 2017 season begins with a trip to the nationally competitive Washington University Bear Invitaitonal on Sept. 1-2. The home season starts the following weekend, with the Rose-Hulman Invitational on Sept. 8-9.
