TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology freshman Grace Beach has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the Fightin' Engineers busy five-match stretch last week.
Beach smashed a total of 64 kills (3.56/set) at a .231 hitting percentage. She also added 22 digs (1.22/set) with four service aces in a week that included Rose-Hulman's first-ever win over a NCAA Division III volleyball top 10 program.
Beach had 14 kills with six digs in a five-set win over No. 8 ranked Millikin, Rose-Hulman's first ever volleyball win over a top 10 team. The Fightin' Engineers earned their second top 25 win this season and in program history with the performance, after defeating No. 20 Hendrix earlier this season.
The biomedical engineering major has recorded double-digit kills in six consecutive matches, highlighted by 13 kills at a .688 hitting percentage in a victory over Greenville last week.
Rose-Hulman stands 10-8 on the season and hosts Manchester University in the HCAC opener on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
