LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on the first career triple-double from Katie Orbeta to capture a 28-26, 25-23, 19-25, 25-17 road victory at Transylvania University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action on Saturday.
Orbeta recorded 10 kills, 25 assists and 11 digs to lead a balanced performance. The team had three players reach double figures in kills, led by Bailey MacInnis with 13. Orbeta was joined by Becca Poppel with 10 kills each.
Alison Rogozinski joined Orbeta in double figures in assists with 15. Gabi Razma had a team-high 30 digs, with Katryna Dahlberg adding 12, Poppel 12 and Orbeta 11. Poppel also led the serving performance with three aces.
The blocking effort was led by Mia Styczynski with five block assists and MacInnis with four. Jordan Horne led Transylvania with 14 kills.
After a tightly contested first set, Rose-Hulman rallied from a 22-18 deficit in set two to capture a tight win.
The Fightin' Engineers improved to 12-8 overall and 2-0 in HCAC play with the victory. Transylvania stands at 10-6 overall and 0-1 in league play after the loss. Rose-Hulman returns to action with a trip to Anderson University on Wednesday night.
