Volleyball Improves to 4-1 in HCAC Play with Win at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 4-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 25-19, 25-14, 20-25, 25-17 volleyball victory at Franklin College on Wednesday night.

Senior Becca Poppel led the Fightin' Engineer offense with 13 kills and added 12 digs.  Bailey MacInnis was also in double figures with 12 kills.  Katie Orbeta and Mackenzie Gossard each had eight kills.

Orbeta paced the squad with 25 assists and three service aces, while contributing 14 digs to the victory.  Alison Rogozinski pitched in with 17 assists.

Defensively, Gabi Razma had a team-high 26 digs for Rose-Hulman.  Gossard led the team with one solo block and four block assists.

Avery Sparks paced the Franklin effort with 18 kills.

Rose-Hulman stands 4-1 in league play and 14-9 overall.  The Fightin' Engineers conclude their non-conference schedule with three matches at the Ohio Northern Invitational on Friday and Saturday, starting with a matchup against the host Polar Bears at 3 p.m. Friday.
