Women's Tennis wins 8-1 at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team won its eighth consecutive match Saturday, Oct. 11, defeating Transylvania 8-1 on the road.

The Fightin' Engineers won at second and third doubles while falling at first doubles. Sophomore Lauren Edwards and freshman Isabella Evans improved to 6-1 on the season with an 8-0 sweep at second doubles. Junior Lauren Miller and sophomore Sydney Short won third doubles 8-2. The Pioneers won their lone flight at first doubles 8-3.

Evans kept her undefeated singles season alive with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Megan Dixon at second singles while senior Suzana Mohd notched her seventh match of the year 6-4, 6-3 at first singles.

Rose-Hulman won third, fourth, and fifth singles each by the score of 7-5, 6-1. Short finished a Rose-Hulman singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at sixth singles.

The Engineers, who now stand at 8-1 on the season including a 6-1 mark in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play, have clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming HCAC Tournament.  Rose-Hulman finishes regular season conference play tomorrow (Sunday), Oct. 12 at home against Manchester.
