Gould leads RHIT Divers at CCIW Diving Championships

BLOOMINGTON, ILL. -- Sophomore Sam Gould capped the second day of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Diving Championships with a first-place finish in the men's 3-meter diving competition to lead Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Saturday. 

Gould (Greencastle, Ind./South Putnam) scored 407.7 points to capture the 3-meter event and earn the Engineers' lone conference championship, a day after his second-place finish in the 1-meter (367.15 points) event on Friday. 

For his efforts, Gould was named CCIW Swimmer of the Week by the conference on Saturday.

Teammate Josh Maurer (Kokomo, Ind./Western) was next on the podium with a second-place finish in the 3-meter event, scoring 372 points. Maurer was third (334.80) in Friday's 1-meter event. 

On the women's side, sophomore Regen Foote (Jasper, Ind.) added a second-place finish in the 1-meter event with 353.95 points. Foote placed second in Friday's 3-meter event with 332.30 points.

Gould, Mauer and Foote earned all-conference honors in both one-meter and three-meter diving with their top-three finishes in every event.

Freshman Austin May (Terre Haute, Middlesex, Mass.) added a fourth-place finish in the 3-meter event (294.75 points) Saturday to couple with his eighth-place finish (265.1 points) in Friday's 1-meter diving competition. 

Other notable finishers in the men's 1-meter diving competition included senior Keenan Bergstedt (Logansport), who finished seventh with 275.05 points. Junior Robert Larson (Edina, Minn.) added a 10th place finish (226.85) and climbed the podium to finish sixth (255.35) in Saturday's 3-meter event. 

Faye Li (Tseung Kwan, Hong Kong) added an 11th-place finish in Saturday's 1-meter diving women's event, scoring 200.8 points.
