COMPLETE RESULTS
FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology finished first on the men's side and third on the women's side at the five-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Invitational on Saturday at Franklin Community High School.
The men's squad scored 379 points to easily outdistance second place Franklin at 199 points. Franklin won the women's meet with 283 points, followed by Transylvania and Rose-Hulman.
The men's performance included 12 event victories out of the 16 events on the afternoon. Junior Matthew King and junior Orion Martin led the Fightin' Engineers with two individuals wins each. King won the 500-freestyle (4:56.22) and 1,650-freestyle (16:45.62), while Martin won the 100-butterfly (50.16) and the 200-freestyle (1:43.59).
Junior Sam Gould contributed two event victories by sweeping the one-meter and three-meter six-dive events. Gould scored 287.50 points in three-meter diving and won the one-meter title with 260.30 points.
Freshman Cam Gill added another freestyle win with a 100-yard time of 48.78, and freshman Patrick King completed a butterfly sweep with a 200-yard mark of 2:00.56.
Other swimming individual winners included sophomore Pierce Bartine in the 200-individual medley (2:01.77) and sophomore Alexander Yaung in the 200-breaststroke (2:14.53).
Rose-Hulman also swept both men's relay events. The 200-medley relay team of Kirk Dickson, Bartine, Martin and Gill won in a time of 1:39.09, and the 400-freestyle relay team of Martin, Gill, Ben Stone and Paul Hintz had a time of 3:11.80.
On the women's side, junior Regen Foote paced the performance with one first-place and one second-place finish in diving. Foote won three-meter diving with 209.90 points after finishing as runner-up in one-meter with 199.55.
Third-place finishers included freshman one-meter diver Aleigh Ohslund with 146.10 points, and senior Celeste Kline with a 200-backstroke time of 2:23.79.
Rose-Hulman returns to Franklin Community High School for a meet against the host Grizzlies on Friday at 7 p.m.
