COMPLETE RESULTS
HANOVER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned first-place honors in the men's competition, while the women placed fourth among 15 teams at the Hanover College Track and Field Invitational on Saturday.
The Fightin' Engineers won five events, including four on the men's side, on a chilly afternoon. Running event winners included junior Brandon Loyer in the 1,500-meters (4:06.03), and junior Sam Sobczak in the 10,000-meter run (33:00.92). Field event winners included sophomore Andrew Okruch in the shot put (49' 10") and sophomore Josh Blome in the pole vault (14' 5 1/4").
On the women's side, Rose-Hulman won the 4-x-400 meter relay with a time of 4:07.47. Team members included Christine Harper, Gabi Razma, Victoria Heckenlively and Addie Johnson.
Runner-up finishers for the Rose-Hulman men included freshman Matt Hill in the 5,000-meter run (15:29.90), senior Kyle Smolarek in the 10,000-meter run (33:03.63), senior Austin Schulthies in the discus throw (144' 10"), senior Zac Erba in the hammer throw (163' 8"), and senior Blake Schulthies (169' 8").
On the women's side, second-place finishers included Johnson in the 400-meter dash (1:00.89), Razma in the triple jump (35' 8") and junior Mallory McDevitt in the pole vault (8' 11 1/2").
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the DePauw University Invitational next weekend.
