TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won a total of 14 events to capture first place honors on the men's side and second place in women's action at the five-team Friday Night Invitational at the Sports and Recreation Center.

The men's squad scored 268 points to outdistance Wabash and Hanover in the top three positions.  On the women's side, Franklin narrowly defeated Rose-Hulman 164-162 in the team scoring with Hanover in third place.

Junior Isaiah Smith led the individual performances with three first-place efforts for the second consecutive week.  Smith won the 60-meters (7.14), 200-meters (23.17) and long jump (20' 11 1/4") events to propel the team score.

Other individual winners for Rose-Hulman included junior Nathan Green in the pole vault (14' 9"); sophomore Josh Hennig in the 400-meters (50.78), and junior Brendan Smyth in the triple jump (42' 11 1/2").

Rose-Hulman also swept the 4-x-200 meter and 4-x-400 meter relay event wins.  The 4-x-200 team of Adam Wilson, Smith, David Borden and Hennig ran a time of 1:32.43.  The 4-x-400 squad featuring Smyth, Smith, Borden and Hennig won with a mark of 3:28.43.

On the women's side, four individuals won events.  Senior Addie Johnson captured the 400-meters in a time of 1:01.39, senior Mallory McDevitt won the pole vault (10' 1 1/4"), sophomore Gabi Razma claimed the triple jump (35' 1") and sophomore Jaclyn Setina won the high jump (5' 2 1/4").

The Rose-Hulman women also swept the 4-x-200 and 4-x-400 meter relays to nearly claim the overall team title.  The grouping of Razma, Setina, Victoria Heckenlively and Johnson won the 4-x-200 in 1:50.58.  The team of Razma, Heckenlively, Anne Boxeth and Johnson capped the meet with a 4-x-400 meter win in 4:12.99.

Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday January 30, hosting the Engineer Invitational at the Sports and Recreation Center.
