Swimming & Diving Wins 21 Events vs. Illinois Wesleyan

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology combined for 21 event victories and two school records in a strong performance against Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center Natatorium.

The men's squad earned a 252-54 victory over Illinois Wesleyan in the team scoring, while the women crossed the 100-point mark in a 164-104 loss to the Titans.

Two diving school records fell to highlight the performance.  Senior Sam Gould established a new men's three-meter 11-dive school record with a score of 474.83 points.  Senior Regen Foote snapped her own school record in the women's three-meter six-dive competition with 279.52 points.

Gould and Foote were two of five individual double event winners on the day.  Gould scored 474.83 in three-meter diving and 272.09 in one-meter, while Foote tallied 279.52 in three-meter and 227.40 in one-meter to capture two wins.

Other two-event individual winners included Cam Gill in the 100-freestyle (47.58) and 200-freestyle (1:45.65), and Orion Martin in the 100-butterfly (49.56) and 200-butterfly (1:51.53).  Ellie Hong paced the women's swimming performance with wins in the 100-backstroke (58.97) and 200-backstroke (2:07.24).

Other men's individual winners included Pierce Bartine in the 50-freestyle (21.73); Tai Enrico in the 200-backstroke (2:01.39); Matthew King in the 1,000-freestyle (10:14.22); Austin Salisbury in the 200-individual medley (2:04.16); Nick Samra in the 100-breaststroke (1:02.16); Ben Stone in the 500-freestyle (4:54.45); Nate Weber in the 100-backstroke (55.97); and Alexander Yaung in the 200-breaststroke (2:16.31). 

On the women's side, Miranda Anderson-Kenney won the 200-butterfly in a time in 2:33.52.

Rose-Hulman also swept both the 200-freestyle and 200-medley relay men's competitions.  Martin, Gill, Tyler Sariscsany and Bartine won the 200-freestyle in 1:26.80. Kirk Dickson, Samra, Bartine and Sariscsany combined to win the 200-medley in 1:39.35.

Rose-Hulman returns to action with a matchup at DePauw University next Saturday at noon.  Both the Fightin' Engineers and Tigers are ranked among the NCAA Division III national top 20 entering this week's action.
