TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Insitute of Technology men's and women's swimming teams squared off against two NCAA Division I schools, Indiana State and Evansville, with significant success on Saturday at the Vigo County Aquatics Center.
Patrick King was one of the highlights of the day for Rose-Hulman. He won the Men's 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 1:57.30. Pierce Bartine also had a pair of first-place finishes, winning the 50-freestyle (21.68) and the 100-butterfly (51.36).
In the Men's 200 Yard IM, Garrett Beauprez placed second with a time of 2:02.81. Nicholas Jeronis and Avery Krovetz finished second and third in the Men's 1000-yard freestyle with times of 10:16.18 and 10:21.04 respectively.
Cam Gill placed second in the Men's 200-freestyle with a time of 1:47.16.
Senior Ellie Hong placed second in the Women's 100-backstroke with a time of 59.55. Nate Weber finished in third place in the same event on the men's side with a time of 55.83.
Nick Samra and Alexander Yaung placed second and third in the men's 100-breaststroke with times of 1:02.47 and 1:03.31.
In the Women's 1 mtr diving competition, Michaela Kivett and Michelle Reese finished second and third with scores of 201.01 and 196.43.
Bartine and Gill placed second and third in the Men's 100-freestyle, finishing with times of 47.69 and 48.67.
The Rose-Hulman men finished in second-place in the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 3:11.21. The Fightin' Engineers also placed third in the Men's 200-medley relay with a time of 1:39.44.
Rose-Hulman will swim again on November 18 at Valparaiso.
