ORLANDO, Fla. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed its Florida women's tennis trip with an 8-1 victory over St. Vincent and a 6-3 loss to Wartburg on Wednesday.
Rose-hulman won all three doubles matches in the nightcap to help gain control of the match. Bella Evans and Linde Schaffer won at the No. 1 spot, with Sydney Short and Lauren Edwards winning at No. 2, and Becca Stanley combining with Coco Liu to win at No. 3.
In singles play, Rose-Hulman compiled a 5-1 record to win the match over St. Vincent 8-1. Winners included Evans at No. 1; Schaffer at No. 2; Edwards at No. 3; Stanley at No. 4; and Paige Bateman at No. 6.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Fightin' Engineers battled Wartburg College for more than four hours before falling 6-3 in a tight matchup.
Rose-Hulman captured wins at the No. 3 singles, No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles position. Edwards and Short combined for a victory at the No. 2 doubles slot, and also won their individual singles matches at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively.
Rose-Hulman stands 8-9 on the season and is scheduled to host Franklin College on March 12.
