Men's Tennis Falls to Nationally Ranked DePauw

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Nationally ranked DePauw University relied on a deep team performance to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 8-1 at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center on Tuesday night.

Junior Brandon Benedict picked up Rose-Hulman's match point with a 7-5, 7-6 win at the No. 2 singles position.  The match was tighter than the final match count indicated, with DePauw winning a pair of three-set singles matches and earning a 9-7 victory at No. 3 doubles.

DePauw improved to 10-9 overall against a schedule featuring losses to five teams ranked in the NCAA Division III top 20 this season.  Rose-Hulman has a record of 16-8 and returns to action on Saturday with a matchup at Earlham.  The Fightin' Engineers would secure at least a share of the HCAC regular season title with a win at Earlham.
