Game Recap: Men's Swimming and Diving |

Swimming & Diving Squares Off at Ill. Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's swmming & diving teams traveled to Bloomington, Ill. on Saturday to compete against the Ill. Wesleyan Titans in the pool.

The men, who knocked off No. 11 DePauw on Friday night in the Rose-Hulman Sports and Recreation Center, defeated Ill. Wesleyan by a final score of 202-83.  The Fightin' Engineers placed first in 11 different events in Saturday's victory.

Rose-Hulman individual winners included Pierce Bartine in the 50-freestyle (21.49) and 100-butterfly (50.94); Nick Samra in the 100-breaststroke (1:02.99) and 200-breaststroke (2:18.18); Austin Bockman in the 100-backstroke (55.96); Patrick King in the 200-butterfly (2:01.21);Tyler Sariscsany in the 100-freestyle (49.29); Cam Gill in the 200-backstroke (2:00.36); and John Rupp in the 400-individual medley (4:26.10).

Rose-Hulman also swept the men's 200-medley and 200-freestyle events.  The 200-medley team of Gill, Samra, Bartine and Sariscsany won in 1:39.69.  The 200-freestyle team featuring Sariscsany, Bartine, Gill and Nate Weber capped the meet by winning in 1:26.72.

On the day, the strong men's performance included Fightin' Engineers placing first, second, and third in eight events.

The women's squad took home six event wins in the dual matchup against Illinois Wesleyan.

Senior Ellie Hong won the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 58.86.  Hong also placed first in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a winning time of 2:06.97.  Senior Savannah Rice won the 50 Yard Freestyle with an overall time of 26.68.  Freshman Michaela Kivett placed first in the Women's 1 Meter Diving event with 199.0 points.  Junior Bethany Lefeber placed first in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:02.99.  The 200-medley relay team of Hong, Rice, Lefeber and Parker Brady also brought home top honors in 1:55.63.

The men and women will return to the pool on Saturday January 21 in the HCAC Invitational.
