Swimming & Diving Teams Top Anderson on Senior Day

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for 24 event victories in a Senior Day win over Anderson University at the Sports & Recreation Center Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

Rose-Hulman defeated the Anderson men's squad by a 124-53 margin that featured 13 event wins, while the Fightin' Engineer women picked up a 109-59 victory that included 11 victories.

Individually, 11 different men earned one event victory each and the Fightin' Engineers swept both relay events.  Individual swimming winners included Pierce Bartine in the 200-IM (1:57.87); Austin Bockman in the 200-freestyle (1:48.75); Sean Gish in the 100-freestyle (48.89); Nicholas Jeronis in the 500-freestyle (4:58.03); Avery Krovetz in the 1,000-freestyle (10:06.75); Nick Samra in the 100-breaststroke (1:01.82); Tyler Sariscsany in the 50-freestyle (22.04); Matt Schulstad in the 100-butterfly (53.44); and Nate Weber in the 100-backstroke (55.00).

Diving winners for the Rose-Hulman men included Joshua Schnipke in one-meter (199.40 points) and Ben Strate in three-meter (220.60).

Rose-Hulman also swept both men's relay races on the day.  The 200-medley relay team of Weber, Alexander Yaung, Schulstad and Bartine won in 1:38.88.  The 400-freestyle relay squad of Weber, Schulstad, Yaung and Bartine added a winning time of 3:24.07.

On the women's side, four Fightin' Engineers won two events each.  Ellie Hong swept the 50-freestyle (25.46) and 100-backstroke (1:00.17); Michaela Kivett swept one-meter (208.60 points) and three-meter (218.35) diving); Bethany Lefeber claimed the 100-butterfly (1:03.63) and 200-IM (2:22.86); and Savannah Rice won the 100-freestyle (57.80) and the 100-breaststroke (1:14.34).

Other winners included Lauren Blake in the 200-freestyle (2:05.83), Maria Kline in the 500-freestyle (5:37.52), and the 200-medley relay team of Hong, Rice, Lefeber and Parker Brady in 1:56.22.

Rose-Hulman also honored seven seniors prior to their last Saturday afternoon home meet at the Sports and Recreation Center.  Seniors included Bartine, Hong, Rice, Daniel Schnipke, Schulstad, Weber and Yaung.

The Fightin' Engineer men return to action against DePauw University on Friday night at 6 p.m. at the SRC.  Both the men's and women's squads travel to Illinois Wesleyan next Saturday.
