Women's Tennis Tops Manchester for Fourth Straight Win

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 7-2 on the women's tennis season with its fourth consecutive win, a 6-3 decision at Manchester University on Thursday afternoon.

The Fightin' Engineers won a pair of doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead.  The No. 2 team of Bella Evans and Fanny-Jane Banda picked up an 8-1 victory, while the No. 3 flight featuring Kyla Jarvis and Linde Schaffer won 8-3.

Rose-Hulman also won matches at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles positions.  Winners included Evans, Naomi Bhagat, Banda and Jarvis.

Rose-Hulman improved to 4-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play and has clinched a bid to the conference tournament that begins on Friday Oct. 20.  The Fightin' Engineers continue a stretch of three matches in three days with contests at IU-East on Friday (1:30 p.m.) and Earlham at home on Saturday (11 a.m.).  Previews of the two upcoming matches are below.

Indiana University-East Red Wolves (5-0)

* IU-East has won all four matches this season, including a 7-2 win over Franklin College in the HCAC.
* The Red Wolves finished 15-10 last year. 

Earlham Quakers (5-6, 1-4 HCAC)

* Earlham stands 5-6 on the season, highlighted by a conference win over Defiance.
* Yunjoo Shin entered the week with a 9-1 overall record and six consecutive wins at primarily the No. 3 position.
