Men's Tennis Splits a Pair to Cap Florida Trip

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology played a pair of tennis matches down in the Sunshine State on Thursday March 2.  Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a convincing victory on Thursday morning against Milwaukee School of Engineering.  The Fightin' Engineers fell in the second match of the day to NCAA Division II member Florida Institute of Technology.  

The Fightin' Engineers opened their Thursday twinbill with a 9-0 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering.  Rose-Hulman improved to 7-1 against NCAA Division III competition on the season with the victory.

Singles winners against the Raiders included Brandon Benedict, Georges Adam, Andre Adam, Cam Metzger, Brendan Goldacker and Austin Perry.  Goldacker won in a third-set tiebreaker, with the other five players winning in straight sets.

In doubles action, the teams of Georges Adam and Benedict; Andre Adam and Metzger; and Joe Kendall and Perry lost only a combined two games in the win.

After a convinving victory in the morning the Fightin' Engineers turned around and played strong competition in the evening against NCAA Division II Florida Institute of Technology.  The Panthers are ranked No. 35 in the Division II Rankings.  The Panthers defeated Rose-Hulman 8-1.  

Andre Adam was the lone Engineer to earn a win against the Panthers, earning a victory at the No. 4 singles slot.

Rose-Hulman stands at 7-3 on the season and will return to action on Saturday March 11 at DePauw University.
