Track & Field Teams Sweep RHIT Friday Night Invitational Titles

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on 13 event victories to earn a convincing sweep in the team scoring at the Fightin' Engineer Friday Night Invitational at the Sports and Recreation Center.

Rose-Hulman won the men's competition with a score of 229 points, followed by Campbellsville at 123 and DePauw at 70.  On the women's side, Rose-Hulman scored 155 points to outdistance Hanover (120) and Kentucky Wesleyan (105.5).

The men's squad picked up seven event wins on the evening.  Josh Hennig paced the performance with individual wins in the 200-meter (22.90) and 400-meter (50.46) dashes.  He also teamed with Alex Huber, John Evans and Nick Saulcy to win the 4-x-400 meter relay (3:30.94).

Other men's winners included Eric Fiacable in the weight throw (53' 0 1/4"); Josh Himes in the shot put (49' 2 1/2"); Aaron Lannoy in the 800-meter run (1:59.57); and Nick Palmer in the pole vault (15' 1").  The pole vault marked Rose-Hulman's strongest event, as the team recorded a 1-2-3 finish.

Gabi Razma led the women's effort with a sweep of the long jump (16' 5 3/4") and the triple jump (35' 1").  Razma also joined Adekite Oladipupo, Victoria Heckenlively and Jaclyn Setina in a winning 4-x-200 meter performance in 1:51.02.

Women's winners also included Kally Morozin in the 3,000-meter run (11:20.01); Setina in the high jump (5' 5 1/4"); and Mary-Helen Shomba in the 60-meter hurdles (9.68 seconds).  The close meet was broken open in the 3,000-meter run, when the Fightin' Engineers came home with a 1-2-3-4 finish.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Engineer Invitational on Jan. 26, the third and final home meet of the 2018 indoor track and field season.  The meet will also include Senior Night festivities.
