ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team gave host Oglethorpe University a tough battle before narrowly falling 5-4 to open its spring southern trip. NCAA Division I Citadel swept the Fightin' Engineers 9-0 in the nightcap.
Rose-Hulman won at the top three singles flights and No. 1 doubles in the Oglethorpe match. Ian Landwehr and Austin Perry picked up an 8-4 win in doubles play. In singles action, Landwehr won at No. 1 singles; Cam Metzger picked up a victory at the No. 2 flight; and Andre Adam won in three sets at the No. 3 position.
Rose-Hulman stands 1-2 on the young season and faces Davenport (11 a.m.) and Florida Tech (5:30 p.m.) in Orlando on Monday.
