ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team jumped off to a strong start, before Adrian College rallied to top the Fightin' Engineers 5-4 on Tuesday to cap a doubleheader.
In the opener, Augustana (Ill.) topped Rose-Hulman 8-1. Despite Tuesday's setbacks, the Fightin' Engineers remain 11-7 on the season.
Against Adrian, Rose-Hulman led 2-1 after doubles behind wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Anna Thompson and Naomi Bhagat won at the No. 1 flight, with Bella Evans and Caroline Johnson winning at No. 2.
Bhagat and Evans won at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, but Adrian rallied with four singles wins to narrowly claim the 5-4 victory.
In the opener, Evans paced the Rose-Hulman performance with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 singles flight.
The women's tennis spring trip concludes with a match against Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday.
