BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won 12 events and the men picked up a team scoring victory in swimming and diving action at Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday.
The men's squad picked up a 191-85 win in the team scoring, while the women fell by a 202-67 margin to the host Titans.
A balanced team performance included 10 different individuals picking up event wins for Rose-Hulman. The men's squad picked up eight victories, and the women earned a pair of event wins.
On the men's side, swimming winners included Colin Beach in the 500-freestyle (5:06.14); Jared Brown in the 200-backstroke (2:05.21); William Jordan in the 100-backstroke (57.48); Nicholas Jeronis in the 400-individual medley (4:24.78); Brendan King in the 200-freestyle (1:48.25); Dutch Kipp in the 100-freestyle (49.10); Nick Samra in the 100-breaststroke (1:02.44); and Bryce Snaguski in the 100-butterfly (54.72).
In women's action, Rose-Hulman relied on a sweep of the diving events to bolster the team score. Michelle Reese won in 1-meter diving (202.60 points) and Michaela Kivett picked up the 3-meter victory (201.55).
Rose-Hulman also swept both men's relay events. The 200-medley team of Isaac Harper, Samra, Michael Rosier and Greg Wenning picked up the victory in 1:42.66. Kipp, Connor Bade, King and Wenning combined to win the 200-freestyle relay in 1:30.56.
Rose-Hulman team members combined for 16 runner-up finishes on Saturday. Rosier had two runner-up finishes with a 100-backstroke time off 57.79 and a 200-backstroke mark of 2:06.32. Other men's second-place finishers included Nick Barr in the 100-breaststroke (1:04.14); Noah Boone in the 100-breaststroke (2:24.66); Brown in the 50-freestyle (55.89); Jeronis in the 200-butterfly (2:02.56); Kipp in the 200-freestyle (1:48.85); Michael Nixon in the 1,000-freestyle (10:56.72); Ethan Park in the 100-butterfly (55.55); Joshua Schnipke in 3-meter diving (189.05); Zach Tate in the 100-freestyle (50.46); and Peter Venema in 1-meter diving (256.85).
On the women's side, second-place finishers included Parker Brady in the 100-backstroke (1:05.27); Kivett in 1-meter diving (197.90 points); and Kayleigh Sinopole in the 100-breaststroke (1:22.08).
Rose-Hulman returns home to face Hanover College in the Senior Day home meet on Saturday Feb. 2 at 1 pm.
