TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team celebrated Senior Night for a trio of four-year team members before falling 6-3 to IU-East at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center on Tuesday night.
The Fightin' Engineers honored the careers of Naomi Bhagat, Kyla Jarvis and Anna Thompson prior to the match. Bhagat has a 44-16 career singles record, ranking third in school history for singles wins. Jarvis is 14-11 in singles play and 21-17 in doubles matches. Thompson has a 30-29 singles record and is 32-28 in doubles play at Rose-Hulman. All three players were part of the NCAA Division III Tournament team for Rose-Hulman in 2017 during their freshman season.
On Tuesday, Rose-Hulman won at No. 2 doubles, No. 2 singles and No. 3 singles. The team of Jarvis and Fanny-Jane Banda earned an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Thompson won a third-set tiebreaker 10-6 at No. 2 singles, and Banda earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles.
IU-East improved to 2-2 on the season, while Rose-Hulman stands at 5-4. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with two matches this week, at Manchester on Thursday and at Franklin on Friday.
