ATLANTA, Ga. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed an improbable comeback to defeat Oglethorpe University 5-4 in men's tennis action on Saturday morning.

Oglethorpe opened the contest by sweeping all three doubles matches by 8-5 scores.  Rose-Hulman would need to win five of the six singles matches against basically the same players to win the match.

The Fightin' Engineers completed the rare comeback with wins at the first five singles flights.  Ian Landwehr won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles; Andre Adam won by a 0-6, 6-2, 6-2 count at No. 2 singles; Austin Perry won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles; Joseph Conrad captured a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles; and Josh Giambattista won 6-1, 7-6 at No. 5 singles as Rose-Hulman earned the team victory.

Rose-Hulman picked up its first win of the season after facing three NCAA Division II top 25 teams; one regionally ranked NCAA Division III team; and two NCAA Division II programs in its first six matches.  Oglethorpe, ranked No. 12 in the Atlantic South Region at the end of the 2018 campaign, dropped to 1-3 against a challenging schedule.

The Fightin' Engineers return to action next weekend with Saturday matches against Wisconsin-Eau Claire and at DePauw, both in Greencastle.
