Men's Tennis Wins Streak Hits Four in Victories Over Transy, Webster

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved its men's tennis winning streak to four matches with an 8-1 win over Transylvania and a 7-2 victory over Webster University on Saturday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.

In the opener, Rose-Hulman won 8-1 for its 42nd consecutive victory against HCAC competition dating back to May 2014.

The Engineers were able to pick up wins in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles flights to take the early 2-1 lead over the Pioneers.  Ian Landwehr and Austin Perry were able to get the win in No. 2 doubles with a score of 8-1, and Ben Strate and Joesph Conrad picked up the No. 3 doubles win with a score of 8-2.  

Rose Hulman was able to dominate in singles matches against the Pioneers.  Landwehr was able to get the victory in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2.  Andre Adam was able to take his match in No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-4.  Perry was able to represent the Engineers with a win in No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1.  

Other singles winners included Joseph Conrad in No. 4 singles 7-5,6-3; Josh Giambattista in No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0; and Grant Stamper in No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0. 

Against Webster, the doubles team of Conrad and Strate won 8-1 at No. 2, and Mark Slaninka joined Stamper for an 8-0 win at No. 3.

Singles winners against the Gorloks included Adam by a 6-3, 6-4 count at No. 1 singles; Perry by a 6-0, 6-0 score at No. 2; Giambattista by a 6-1, 6-2 score at No. 3; Jacob Pluta 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4; and Arudrra Krishnan 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. 

Rose-Hulman leads the HCAC at 3-0 in conference play and increased its season record to 5-9.  The Fightin' Engineers travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday.
