Men's Tennis Advances to Sunday's HCAC Title Match with 5-0 Win

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship Match with a 5-0 win over Transylvania University on Saturday at West Indy Racquet Club.

With the win, Rose-Hulman set a new school record with its 11th consecutive victory this season.  The Fightin' Engineers have won 46 consecutive matches against HCAC competition dating to May 2014 and will seek their fifth straight conference tournament championship on Sunday.

Rose-Hulman opened the day with a sweep of the three doubles matches.  Andre Adam and Josh Giambattista picked up an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.  Ian Landwehr and Austin Perry comibned for an 8-4 win at No. 2.  Joseph Conrad and Jacob Pluta completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 flight.

In singles competition, Landwehr won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 flight.  Adam clinched the match with a 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 singles position.

Rose-Hulman improved to 12-9 on the season with the victory.  The Fightin' Engineers will face No. 2 seed Earlham College (17-7) at 10 am on Sunday at West Indy Racquet Club.  The winner will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
