TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was able to pick up a win over Millikin University on Thursday night with a final score of 9-0. This improves the Engineers overall record to 2-1.
The Engineers were able to put together an outstanding performance in doubles competition. The No. 1 doubles team of Naomi Bhagat and Breanna Rogers were able to pick up a win 8-4. The No. 2 doubles team of Fanny-Jane Banda and Anna Thompson were also able to come out victorious 8-4. Rose-Hulman's No. 3 doubles team of Kyla Jarvis and Krista Manche were also able to find success with a 8-5 win. This put the Engineers up 3-0 heading into singles competition.
Rose-Hulman was also able to sweep the singles competition. Bhagat was able to pick up a victory in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2. Thompson was able to win at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1. Banda was able to come away with a win in No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-3. Rogers represented the Engineers well with a win in No. 4 singles 7-6 (3), 6-0. Jarvis was able to win a hard fought match at No. 5 singles 6-3, 7-6 (12). Manche was also able to come away with a win in No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1.
The team now stands at 2-1 overall this season and will return to competition on Saturday, 9/14 as they begin conference play at Defiance College. The match is set to start at 11:00 AM.
