NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology picked up a 6-3 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering after falling 9-0 to perennial NCAA Division III power North Central College on Saturday at Naperville Tennis Center.
Rose-Hulman picked up two doubles wins and four singles victories in the 6-3 decision.
Joshua Giambattista led Rose-Hulman with wins at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-2) and No. 1 doubles with
Mark Slaninka (8-2).Â
Owen Reynolds won at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-2),
Grant Paradowski won at No. 4 (6-2, 6-4) and
Corey Pollard picked up a victory at No. 5 (3-6, 7-5, 10-8).
The doubles team of
Austin Perry and
Rhian Seneviratne added a sixth point with an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In the North Central match, Reynolds led the Fightin' Engineer performance with a narrow loss at No. 3 singles. After splitting the first two sets, the first-to-10 tiebreak went overtime as both players battled to get the necessary 2-point lead. Reynolds eventually fell 14-12 in the third-set tiebreaker.
North Central improved to 6-1, while Rose-Hulman stands 2-2 and Milwaukee School of Engineering is 1-4. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with four matches in the team's annual spring trip to Florida starting Sunday Feb. 27.
