FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team captured its sixth Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship in the last seven years with a 6-3 victory at Franklin College on Sunday.
Rose-Hulman has won seven HCAC regular season conference championships in program history after finishing 5-0 in league play in 2022. Other regular season championship seasons include 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The Fightin' Engineers have a 56-1 record in their last 57 matches against HCAC competition dating back to 2015.
On Sunday, the Fightin' Engineers led 2-1 after doubles play.Â
Mark Slaninka and
Grant Paradowski battled to a 12-10 tiebreak victory at No. 1 doubles, and the team of
Owen Reynolds and
Rhian Seneviratne won 8-4 at No. 2.
In singles play, Reynolds and Paradowski won at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights in straight sets. Seneviratne and
Arudrra Krishnan added victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to secure the match win.
Rose-Hulman also seeks its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament this season. The Fightin' Engineers will be the No. 1 seed in the HCAC Tournament, which includes a semifinal match on May 7 and the title match on May 8 at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 9-8 overall on the year and close the regular season schedule at Greenville University on Saturday April 30.
