NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Final with a 5-0 win over Transylvania University on Saturday at Top Seed Tennis Club.
The Fightin' Engineers will look for their 7th straight HCAC Tournament championship and their 7th straight trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament in tomorrow's title match. Rose-Hulman will face the winner of today's second semifinal between Hanover and Anderson on Sunday at 10 am.
Rose-Hulman swept the three doubles flights to open a strong performance on Saturday.Â
Joshua Giambattista and
Owen Reynolds won 8-4 at No. 1;
Mark Slaninka and
Grant Paradowski won 8-0 at No. 2; and
Rhian Seneviratne joined
Arudrra Krishnan for an 8-3 win at No. 3.
In singles play,
Owen Reynolds at No. 3 singles and
Grant Paradowski at No. 4 singles won in straight sets as the Fightin' Engineers reached the five points needed to end the match by decision.
Rose-Hulman stands 10-9 on the season and has won 56 of its last 57 matches against HCAC opposition entering Sunday's HCAC Tournament Championship Match.
