TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the semifinal round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament with a 9-0 win over Manchester University on Tuesday night at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
The Fightin' Engineers started the match quickly with three wins in doubles play.Â
Owen Reynolds and
Rhian Seneviratne won 8-0 at the No. 1 flight.Â
Grant Paradowski and
Andrew Leonard won 8-0 at No. 2, and
Renato Prado and Jonathan Stadler won 8-1 at No. 3.
In singles play, Rose-Hulman lost only 10 games in six singles matches to complete the 9-0 victory. Reynolds, Paradowski and Prado won in straight sets at the first three singles flights.Â
Andrew Leonard,
Declan Vail and
Austin Perry won in straight sets at the No. 4-No. 6 flights.
Rose-Hulman improved to 10-9 on the season, while Manchester completes the campaign at 2-16. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Nicholasville, Kentucky for the HCAC Tournament championship round this weekend. Rose-Hulman faces No. 2 seeded Transylvania on Saturday at 3 pm. The winner advances to the HCAC Tournament Championship Match on Sunday at 10 am.
