NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team advanced to the HCAC Championship match with a 5-2 win over Franklin on Saturday afternoon. They will battle Transylvania University on Sunday at 1 PM with a spot in the NCAA Tournament on the line.
The Fightin' Engineers dropped their first doubles matches to an HCAC opponent this season and fell behind 2-1 after the first set of matches.
Grant Paradowski and
Ervin Perkowski picked up the lone win at #2 doubles with an 8-1 victory.
Elijah Hadler and
Owen Reynolds picked up the first two wins at #1 and #2 singles to give Rose-Hulman the 3-2 lead. Hadler won 6-4, 6-2, and Reynolds won 6-1, 6-2.
Perkowski got the penultimate point for the Fightin' Engineers with a 6-3, 6-0 win at #4 singles.
Paradowski then clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at #3 singles.
With the win, Rose-Hulman improves to 13-5 overall on the season. The Fightin' Engineers will look to advance to their eighth NCAA Tournament in the last nine years since 2015.
