NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team took down Anderson 5-2 in the HCAC Semifinals at Top Seed Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon. They will advance to the HCAC Championship match on Sunday at 10 AM with an NCAA Tournament berth on the line.
The Fightin' Engineers took the lead early with a pair of doubles wins.
Taylor Goldman and
Wynne Aldrich cruised to an 8-1 victory at the #1 spot in just 23 minutes.
Brooke Carpenter and
Hayden Mattick also won at the #3 doubles position 8-4.
In singles,
Ella Dorfmueller picked up the third point for the Fightin' Engineers with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the #3 spot. Aldrich also picked up a come-from-behind win at the #2 spot with the 6-3, 7-5 win.
Goldman clinched the match for Rose-Hulman at #1 singles as she battled out a 7-6(8-6) first set and cruised to win the second set 6-1.
With the win, Rose-Hulman improves to 5-13 on the season and earns a spot in the HCAC Championship match for the first time since 2021. They will look to make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2016 season.
