Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Rose-Hulman women's tennis team went 1-1 on the second day of their Florida trip, with a win over Capital, 5-2, and a loss to Allegheny, 6-1. This moves the team to 3-5 overall this season.
In the first game of the day, the Fightin' Engineers had an exciting win over Capital. The team lost the double point to the Comets after losing in No. 1 and 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles team of
Nova Gladden and
Emerson Donaldson picked up a win with a score of 6-0.
Rose-Hulman bounced back in the singles matches, winning five of the six match ups to defeat the Comets.
Lia Taylor picked up the victory at No. 1 singles with scores of 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9).
Paige Mills earned a win at No. 3 singles with a final of 6-1, 6-3.
Camille Clark rounded out the top three singles victors with a win at the No. 4 spot, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-1).
The Fightin' Engineers fell short in the second match of the day against Allegheny.
The team suffered the loss after being swept by the Gators in singles competition. Rose-Hulman bounced back to avoid the shutout by earning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
The Rose-Hulman women's tennis team will conclude their Florida trip, facing Wartburg on Thursday, March 5, at 9 AM.
