TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Student-Athlete Advisory Committee participated in the SAAC Day of Service event this past weekend.
The SAAC Day of Service included multiple opportunities for Rose-Hulman student-athletes to give back to the local Terre Haute community. The students partnered with three local non-profit organizations, including the Clay County Animal Shelter, P.I.N.K. of Terre Haute, and S.H.I.N.E. Foster Families.
Amongst the activities included a group meeting in the SRC on-campus to collect old t-shirts to turn into dog toys, which were donated to the Clay County Animal Shelter.
Another group partnered with P.I.N.K. of Terre Haute to make tie-blankets and cards that the organization distributed to those going through breast cancer treatment and those in recovery in the local area.
Additionally, a group of students volunteered their time at the S.H.I.N.E. Foster Families Center, where they helped the organization sort through donations they had received, distributing them to local families.
Athletes from a plethora of Rose-Hulman varsity sports teams participated in the activities, including women's soccer, softball, baseball, men's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, women's tennis, men's and women's track & field, volleyball, and football.
