TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman athletics department is thrilled to announce the hiring of Josh Trout as the new head coach for the men's and women's golf teams.
 
Trout joins the Fightin' Engineers athletic program after spending 18 seasons coaching golf at Northview High School while also working as a psychology and history teacher. Trout coached the girl's golf team from 2006-2012, before switching over to coach boy's golf from 2013-2017. He would return to the girl's golf team in 2018, where he continued his coaching tenure through the 2023 season.
 
Between his stints with both programs, Trout developed practice plans that emphasized fundamentals, strategy, sportsmanship, and competitive preparation. He managed tournament scheduling and team logistics and oversaw equipment purchases.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to coach both the men's and women's golf programs at Rose-Hulman," said Trout. "I want to thank our Athletic Director and the entire search committee for their confidence and support. I'm excited to get to know our student-athletes and help them reach their goals on the course and in the classroom. I'm excited about the future of Rose-Hulman Golf, and I can't wait to get started!"
 
During Trout's 12 seasons coaching the women's golf team, he was named the Western Indiana Conference Coach of the Year nine times. He won the award three consecutive years from 2007-2009, and would later win six straight coach of the year awards from 2018-2023. Trout also coached and developed six student-athletes who continued their golf careers at the collegiate level.
 
The Clay County, Indiana, native graduated from Indiana State in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in science. He continued his education at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, earning a master's degree in education in 2012.
