SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman started the season on the highest possible note, placing first overall at the Franklin Grizzly Invitational. The Fightin' Engineers recorded a team score of 34 points in the 5K race, boasting four top-ten finishers.
Senior
Rhys Phelps led the way for Rose-Hulman, placing second overall with a time of 15:52.1. Senior
Chris Lynn finished just a second behind Phelps, as he recorded a third place finish in 15:53.2.
Freshman
Grayson Rorick made an immediate impact in his debut as he achieved a fifth-place finish with a time of 15:59.7. Senior
John Gries posted Rose-Hulman's fourth top-ten finish, taking tenth place with a time of 16:17.0.
Junior
Brayden Gebhard rounded out Rose-Hulman's team score as he took 14th-place with a time of 16:22.0. Senior
Morgan Stratton added an 18th-place finish, as he completed the race with a time of 16:24.8.
University of Illinois Club placed second with 70 points, and DePauw added a third-place finish with 82 points.
The Fightin' Engineers will return home to compete in the John McNichols Invitational. The 8K race will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 9:05 AM.
