Shane Mills enters his second season as the head coach of the men's and women's track and field teams at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year.

Mills led the Rose-Hulman men's track & field team to two HCAC titles during the indoor and outdoor season in his first year at the helm of the program. The women's team won the outdoor title and finished runners-up during the indoor season at the HCAC Championships.

In his first year at Rose-Hulman, Mills coached Rose Talbert to First Team All-American honors, as she placed seventh in the nation in the 400m with a school-record time of 54.62 in her 2025 NCAA Championship debut. During that same season, Mills also guided the program to breaking eight school records.

Mills started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Earlham College under current Rose-Hulman cross country head coach, Derick Lawrence. He was named the interim head coach of the program in 2021-22 before being named the Director of Cross Country and Track and Field in the summer of 2022.

During his time at Earlham, Mills coached Conner Kimball to a school record in the 800m with a time of 1:51.83, as well as Connor Del Carman to a school-record performance in the 5,000m, running 14:58.

Mills graduated from Albion College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Educational Studies, where he ran cross country and track and field. He also completed his Master's degree in 2023 from Earlham College in Educational Leadership and Administration.

Mills holds an Endurance Event Specialist Certification from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
