James Vinson enters his third year as the Associate Athletic Director for Athletics, Communications, and Public Relations in the 2025-26 academic year. He oversees all media coverage and promotions of the college's sports programs.
He is a member of College Sports Communicators (CSC) and has been an active member of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Athlete of the Week Committee since 2024-25.
Vinson came to Rose-Hulman after spending three full years as the Sports Information Director at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, where he served as the primary contact for all 24 varsity sports programs.
Prior to his time at Illinois College, he spent two years as a graduate assistant at Rose-Hulman for Kevin Lanke, where he served as the primary contact for Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Tennis, Softball, and Women's Basketball. During his time as a graduate assistant, he earned his master's degree in sports management from Indiana State University in 2020.
Vinson is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he graduated from Mount St. Joseph University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management. He served as a sports information intern in the Mt. St. Joseph athletics department during his last two years at the university. He also participated on the cross country team for two years and the track and field team in his freshman year.Â
James resides in Terre Haute, Indiana, with his fiancée Amber and their son Adam.Â
