TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Saturday, Oct. 18 when the Fightin' Engineers travel to Manchester for a 3 p.m. contest.
Rose-Hulman enters the match with an 8-3-3 record including a 3-0-1 mark in HCAC play. Last week, the Engineers battled to a scoreless draw with Transylvania 2-1 and responded with a 1-0 win at Franklin on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Offensively, sophomore Ben Lyon leads Rose-Hulman offensively with five goals and ten points on the season. Junior Dieter Schultz has a team-high three assist and five total points. Junior Marco Cattani also has five points on the season.
Defensively, the Engineers have allowed only eight goals in 14 games. Senior Drew Miller ranks in the top 30 in the nation in both goals against average (.541) and save percentage (.864) while collecting 51 saves this season. Additionally, Miller has totaled eight shutouts this season along with 30 for his career.
Manchester comes into the contest with a 5-8 record overall including a 1-3 mark in HCAC play. Recently, the Spartans defeated Hanover 2-1 and lost to Bluffton 2-1 in overtime.
The Engineers have an 18-3-5 all-time record over the Spartans. Rose-Hulman has won the last three meetings.
After the game with Manchester, Rose-Hulman returns home Wednesday, Oct. 22 against Earlham. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
